In my company I often have build code under different circumstances:

  • Local or on some server
  • Within or without some container
  • Different languages
  • Sometimes I want to only execute some tests or try out something small

Some problems I have:

  • I often end up with long build times because I don't know how to reuse compiled code or invalidate what would have been reused
  • I often don't know how to build i.e. only the tests for some language
  • I have a really hard time fixing errors in the build process …
