We have a very high write throughput and a high read throughput.

Where should we move our time series data?

When looking for alternatives we want to avoid further vendor lock-in with Azure. That means we prefer using services with independent APIs. For example, right now I am experimenting with the Kafka API on Azure Event Hubs instead of using the standard Azure Event Hub API.
