My team is about a year into our journey of converting our infrastructure to code.

We have some agents enabled in prod that we dont have enabled in lower environments (e.g. DEV, QA) due to licensing reasons.

Curious how other engineers handle this? Right now we have a variable in our (ansible) inventory file that flags the state of the agent as enabled/disabled - but this causes heartburn because if theres a problem with that agent we dont find out about it until its tested in an environment that has …
