Amazon Web Services (AWS): S3, EC2, SQS, RDS, DynamoDB, IAM, CloudFormation, Route 53, VPC and more reddit.com

The AWS PowerShell module is awesome, but it has a few issues:

  • Installing all the service-specific modules is incredibly slow with the Install-Module command
  • Installing the monolithic AWS PowerShell module is easy and fast, but it's very slow to import (~10 seconds)
  • Installing the service-specific modules via ZIP file extraction is faster, but must be managed manually

⚠️ Objective: Simplify upgrading to the latest AWS PowerShell module, while avoiding the above challenges.

🖥️ Implementation: I created a GitHub Actions workflow that installs the latest AWS PowerShell module, using …

aws container github github actions powershell
