Cognito User Pools are fully managed user directories for your web and mobile apps. In Cognito's default configuration it requires users to confirm their identity through a valid email address or phone number. In this article we will explore Cognito Lambda Triggers to avoid personally identifiable information (PII) altogether, allowing for completely anonymous user sign-ups.

This is the first in a series of articles around Cognito. In later posts I'll cover Identity Pools, User Groups and the AWS JS SDK vs the Amplify JS libraries.
